Qui sumus

For an authentic liturgical RENEWAL, according to the Second Vatican Council, in CONTINUITY with Tradition.

“‘Have you understood all these?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ And he said to them, ‘Well then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of Heaven is like a householder who brings out from his storeroom new things as well as old.’” (Mt 13:51-52)

The texts referred to on this site are Pope Benedict XVI’s writings on the liturgy “Joseph Ratzinger-Collected Works: Theology of the Liturgy”, Ignatius Press 2014, in particular the essay entitled “The spirit of the liturgy” (also published separately by Ignatius Press “The spirit of the liturgy” in 2014).
In the Introduction to this essay the then Cardinal Ratzinger wrote: “If this book were to encourage, in a new way, something like a “liturgical movement”, a movement toward the liturgy and toward the right way of celebrating the liturgy, inwardly and outwardly, then the intention that inspired its writing would be richly fulfilled.
The aim of this website is to fulfil this wish and to correspond to it fully and in the best possible way! We strongly believe that an authentic liturgical renewal must refer to the indications of Vatican Council II, which remains essential, but in continuity with Tradition, according to the correct and true intentions of the Council Fathers and not according to the distorted interpretations that followed; on the contrary, we believe that rooting in Tradition is in itself the most valid guarantee for the liturgical renewal introduced by the Council. To achieve this goal, we do not consider it necessary to return to the ancient liturgy (Vetus Ordo); rather to a liturgy that regularly uses the missal reformed by Paul VI (Novus Ordo), but which regains the primacy of God, the sense of the sacred, the decorum, the silence, the right spiritual climate, better guaranteed in the ancient liturgy (this has to be acknowledged!), that seem to be missing or at the very least to have become secondary and superfluous in most celebrations. And there are at least four liturgical indications that must be restored: the “oriented” altar (where possible), the recovery of Latin language and Gregorian chant (at least in part) and kneeling of the faithful when receiving of Holy Communion (very appropriately).
This enterprise is based on these criteria; criteria which, in turn, refer to the “reform of the reform” wished by Pope Benedict XVI and supported by Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, that is, a liturgy with the ordinary missal but which is inspired by the celebration in the extraordinary rite. We are aware that the issues at stake are not exclusively liturgical in nature but, first of all, theological. The aim, in the indispensable logic of the lex orandi-lex credendi, is to bring the liturgy back to its most true nature; therefore it is not a nostalgic “going back” (this is not a traditionalist site!), but it is giving back to it what has been taken away and identifies it; it is reaffirming the liturgy as a source of spirituality, as the source and heart of the Church’s prayer. And, we are convinced, the wished-for and urgent “liturgical reconciliation” or “liturgical reconversion” can be achieved in concrete ways, with patience and perseverance, also through the recovery of some typical forms of the centuries-old liturgical tradition.
This website, therefore, will collect useful materials for the celebration of the Catholic Mass according to the rite of Pope Paul VI but in Latin, with Gregorian chants and with the celebrants facing ad orientem (i.e. towards the Lord). All this will be done according to the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy Sacrosanctum Concilium (1963) of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, which recommends the preservation of the Latin language (36) and the preference for Gregorian chant (117), does not at all exclude the celebration ad orientem and does not abolish kneeling when receiving Holy Communion. “The greatness of the liturgy depends on its unspontaneity (Unbeliebigkeit) […] The “Divine Liturgy”, as they call it in the East, shares in the authority of the Church’s faith in its fundamental form” (Joseph Ratzinger).

«Avete capito tutte queste cose?».
